Including LGBT youth and adults in Girl Scouting
Girl Scouts is an inclusive organization and accepts all girls who identify culturally as females, as well as all adults, who are willing to live by the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
The volunteers, girls, and families in your troop may identify in the LGBTQ+ community. Parents or volunteers may share information with you about their daughter or themselves to help you better understand and work with them. If this happens, what should you do? How do you support all of the girls in your troop? Who can you talk to?
On Thursday, December 7 at 6:00 pm GSNI-M is proud to offer an exclusive training from Q Consulting and Education for parents and volunteers (troop leaders, community coordinators, camp volunteers, etc.) to help make the Girl Scout experience inclusive to all. This session will include content on trans identity, trans terminology/pronouns, trans social issues, sexuality and end with a half hour Q&A.
Space is available at both GSNI-M service centers, and a limited number of online links will be available. Community Coordinators may also arrange for an opportunity in your community to watch virtually, you may want to check in with your community first. Be sure to register early to get your spot!
