South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood announced today their joint support for National Girl Scout Cookie Day (February 8, 2013).

“We are proud to support National Girl Scout Cookie Day,” the mayors said in a joint statement. “Many people don’t realize that the annual cookie sale is the largest girl-operated business in the world. We wish all of our local Girl Scouts best wishes for the sale and in the future as they become leaders in our communities.”

While participating in the sale, Girl Scouts learn five major skills that will help their futures. These include:

    • Goal Setting
    • Decision making
    • Money Management
    • People Skills
    • Business Ethics
