What’s Going On Around the Council?

Last week we received pictures from Cöleen Amorini of Community 218′s latest activities. We love to see and hear what our girls are doing throughout the council.

Here are some photos of the donations from the Perry Hill Carnival. The donations were from Troops# 20046, #00302 and GSNI-M. Pictured: Leader Elaine Jones, Allison Jones and Elise Jones.

Each year on February 22, World Thinking Day, girls honor their sister Girl Guides and Girl Scouts by taking time to give thanks for their international friendships and remember that Girl Scouts of the USA is part of a global community—one of nearly 150 countries that are members of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).

This year’s theme, girls’ worldwide say “together we can save children’s lives,” gives girls a chance to take action on issues affecting children’s lives in other countries. This theme is based on Millennium Development Goal 4, which is focused on reducing child mortality rates around the globe.

The five focus countries for World Thinking Day 2013 to represent the five WAGGGS regions were:

    • Jordan (Arab Region)
    • Malawi (Africa)
    • Pakistan (Asia/Pacific)
    • Republic of Ireland (Europe)
    • Venezuela (Western Hemisphere)
