As a part of YWCA Northeast Indiana’s Stand Against Racism, attend one of two FREE documentary screenings and hear from the filmmaker and one of the documentary’s subjects.
The screenings will be attended by the following individuals who will be present for discussion following each screening:
Sheldon Smith, documentary subject – Sheldon has been involved in the non-profit world since the age of 13 when he began working as a community youth organizer in Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood. The Dovetail Project, of which Sheldon serves as executive director, is a nonprofit organization that empowers young Black fathers ages 17-24 with parenting, life and job readiness skills.
Mary F. Morten, documentary filmmaker – Mary is a filmmaker and activist committed to social change though video and film development. She is the president of Morten Group, a consulting firm specializing in social change through skills development, public policy and advocacy. Mary has served as producer/director for several films covering national policy initiatives, women’s rights and youth development. She has received numerous honors for her work with women and girls and in the philanthropic community.
