Camp Soni Springs was purchased by the Northern Indiana Girl Scout Council
in 1959 and is located in Berrien County approximately four miles southwest of Three Oaks MI. The name Soni is an acronym for Scouts of Northern Indiana, the Girl Scout council that founded the camp. Camp Soni Springs has 156 acres including 72 acres of open land and 84 wooded acres. A branch of the Little Galien River runs through the camp. A small artificially made lake, Lake Mary, on the property is perfect for swimming and small craft, especially for younger girls as it is well protected from wind. One unique feature of the camp is the small island, called Skippers Island with a Tree House that overlooks the lake. In 2009, Soni was idled as Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana initiated plans to study all properties owned by the newly merged council. In 2010, the decision was made to retain this property as a day and troop camp for the girls and volunteers on the western edge of the council. Plans are currently underway to rejuvenate and reopen this beautiful property.
