This hands-on outdoor training is designed for new and experienced
Girl Scout volunteers who want to safely lead campfire activities with
their troop. You'll learn how to build, maintain, and extinguish a
fire, while also gathering fun activity ideas-like making edible fires
and DIY fire starters-that you can use with your troop.
This is
the first course in our outdoor training series and is required if you
plan to have a campfire with your troop. You'll also hear about the
next training level, which is needed before camping overnight at a
Girl Scout property. If you've already completed Outdoor Basics,
you're not required to take this course-but we still recommend it for
fresh ideas and added confidence.
Please note: This is an
adult training. You may bring your registered Girl Scout with you to
participate in the activities together, but she must attend with her
adult caregiver. The training is held outdoors, so dress for the
weather and wear closed-toe shoes. We'll be making and eating edible
fires and s'mores, so be sure to list any allergies when registering.
